nordic research network 2017, university of aberdeen
Scheduled for the 24-25 August, the Nordic Research Network 2017 will be a two-day multidisciplinary conference for postgraduates and early-career researchers to present research related to the Nordic region.
The University of Aberdeen is pleased to host the seventh iteration of the NRN conference series, co-organised by the Centre for Scandinavian Studies and the Department of Archaeology. Having a broad strategic research focus on The North, being a contributing member of the University of the Arctic, and hosting a broad community of researchers interested in Nordic topics, the University of Aberdeen is an ideal venue to welcome members of the Nordic research community.
The NRN conference series has a long tradition of enabling early-career researchers and postgraduates to present their research from a diverse range of methodologies and disciplines in a supportive environment. Past NRN conferences have investigated themes such as ‘What Comes Next?’ ‘Bridges Between: Norse and Insular Worlds 500-1500’ and ‘Bridges Between: Intercultural Exchanges and the Modern Nordic World’. Building off these productive discussions, the 2017 Nordic Research Network is interested in facilitating further interdisciplinary research dissemination and knowledge exchange on topics relating to human habitation of the northern reaches of the world.
It is in this spirit that the conference organising committee invite proposals in English for papers and other presentations on the broad subject of ‘The North as Home’. Proposals on other subjects will also be considered. Download our Call for Papers for further detail.
